Long established and well respected family owned and run Insurance Broker, Fiveways Insurance were approached by Rural Arbor Products Ltd who had run and managed a woodland insurance scheme for the past 24 years, with a view to Fiveways taking over the scheme. Roger Pittaway of RAP Ltd said “I was aware of the great reputation that Fiveways Insurance have built over many years and respected Nigel West, owner and Managing Director, and his team. Having nurtured the woodland scheme for the last 24 years I was looking to retire and had no hesitation when I was introduced to Nigel and Dan. I had full confidence that they had the wherewithal to establish a new scheme commensurate with the cover provided by RAP and to take it on and develop and expand it to reach even more woodland owners.”
From that point in early 2024, the Fiveways Insurance team approached Geo’s agriculture team to see if they could support them in the provision of Liability cover for 1000’s of woodland owners throughout the UK. The Geo team have a really strong background in rural based businesses, with lots of experience of public liability risks associated with owning land that may have bridle paths going through it. We knew that they had a suitable policy which could be tailored for the needs of woodland owners.

This successful scheme provides property owners liability and legal expenses cover for owners of private woodlands in the UK.
Since starting the scheme, Fiveways and Geo continue to work closely together to develop and expand the policy covers to other trusts and organisations. Together, we have identified many additional opportunities to explore and allow us to develop our business even further.
In addition to developing the scheme, Nigel, Dan and the team at Fiveways set about creating a new trading division, a new brand – Woodways Woodland Insurance.
